Thermographers are continually having to deal with the Issues presented by reflection and emissivity, electrical cabinets, etc are full of different materials of varying emissivity, they can range from .95 to 0.15 and these values can change with both age and temperature. To help eliminate these problems we at G M tech have designed and manufactured a range of high emissivity target markers.
The use of target markers helps to standardise the emissivity and gives a non-reflective target and therefore reduces issues caused by reflection. Emissivity targets also give a very useful point of reference for the thermographer and for the technician who may have to repair the issues found by the Inspection.
At G M Tech we have been using IR target markers on highly reflective surfaces such as Bus-Bar covers, Cable Trunking, etc… for many years with great success.
Another recent innovation from G M Tech has been the use of different shape IR Targets. These targets allow thermographers to identify the phase that they are examining by the shape of the IR target, this simple but very effective use of reflection. This has been found to be especially useful when inspecting through the IRISS range of IR windows.
